Gary, with Nicholas Stevens is one of the founding Directors of Stevens Lawson Architects Limited, Gary and Nicholas’s strengths lie in the creation of innovative design responses with a high level of aesthetic sensibility and functional resolution. Collaborative design with clients, consultants and user is intrinsic to their approach to architectural practice.
Gary was born in Dunedin and grew up in the South Island. He attended Timaru Boys High school before shifting to Auckland. Gary has been a New Zealand representative road cyclist and held two New Zealand junior road cycling championship titles. A NZ certificate in Architectural Draughting preceded an Architecture Degree with honours from the Unitec School of Architecture.
Upon graduation he worked for Andrew Patterson before joining Nicholas Stevens Architects in 2001. Stevens Lawson Architects was established with Nicholas Stevens in 2002. Gary and his wife, Julie Wilson, have four children Harper, Rory, Scout and Olivia.
